Revenge

While my better angel is whispering "revenge is the Lord's," everything human in me is having a really hard time dredging up any sympathy for this guy. Long story short, he sexually assaulted and drowned a ten-year-old named Katie. In prison, someone decided that his life sentence wasn't quite enough, and gave him this.

Looks like it hurts. Hmm.

It isn't particularly subtle, but you can't beat a forcible-tattooing of a victim's name across a criminal's forehead for dramatic flair.

The real crime in all of this will undoubtedly come later--when the good people of Indiana are forced to pay for this scumbag's tattoo removal.

Nice. How big a bastard do you have to be for all the other felons to want to punish you?

Oh, I thought you meant of the things you eat.

I know that, like the above quote, what I'm about to say is so two seasons ago, but it's been bothering me since then, and I have to get it off my chest.

Is anyone else totally weirded out by the stubbiness of Jason Bateman's fingers? They're so trollish. Whew. There, I've said it. I can stop being totally freaked out every time I see the DVD cover.

I just saw an episode of A.D. for the first time this week. My roommate has the DVDs. I laughed out loud several times.

Not so serious

Okay, got a little serious on that last one. You know, horrendous world events always make me cranky. To make it up to you, here is a funny pictures of a grumpy cat with some kind of fruit rind on its head.

Please don't think that, because I sometimes post funny cat pics, I am a "cat person." I actually quite dislike cats. Maybe that's why I find the pictures so funny? Whatever. Here you go.

jihad

This week, Pope Benedict quoted a 14th-century emperor who said that the Muslim religion is spread through violence. The pope also said that Muslims need to have both faith and reason in order to achieve God's will.

I think he may have had a point.

Protestors outside Westminster Cathedral during Sunday mass:

Murdered nun Sister Leonella Sgorbati and her family in Italy. She was 66 and was shot in the back yesterday while leaving her place of work--a children's hospital in Somalia.
(Pics are from Michelle Malkin's blog, as is the following:)

My friend Lorenzo Vidino, counterterrorism expert and author of al Qaeda in Europe, sent the above photo and this note:
Attached is a picture of the Pope that is circulating in Qaeda-friendly chat rooms and websites. Lovely (and predictable) that they call for his beheading.

The script in red calls for the Pope's beheading. The rest of the translation:

"Swine and servant of the cross, worships a monkey on a cross, hateful evil man, stoned Satan, may Allah curse him, blood-sucking vampire."

Funny, for people who are so touchy about their religion being insulted, they aren't very careful about insulting others. Of course, so many of them believe that all others are infidels who deserve to be converted at the point of a sword or killed. It isn't fun to think about, but whether we care to believe it or not, we are engaged in a world-wide holy war.

Sorry for the uncharacteristic seriousness, but these are pretty serious times we're living in.

it's also very strange that they call Jesus a monkey on a Cross when according to the Koran he's the only prophet who didn't die (God took him up before his crucifixion and replaced him with a look-a-like...possibly Judas) and the Koran says he will come back and be the Judge...not Mohammed. So they will be judged by a monkey?

I do agree with you about the insulting of other religions. They are so sensative about what anyone suggests of their religion, no matter how true it is, and yet they are quick to rain down judgements of other religions.
